‘A great day to not be in Jackson,’ governor says during Hattiesburg event

The governor declared an emergency at the end of August after a failure at Jackson’s water plant cut off water to residents. City officials had no comment when 16 WAPT News asked for a response to the governor’s statements. The governor has been at odds at times with Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba about how the city has maintained the water distribution system and is critical of problems with water customer billing. Water service was restored after the state took over the O.B. Curtis Water Plant.
