A man who had headaches for years went to an optician when he started seeing black orbs. He was diagnosed with brain cancer and says the appointment saved his life.

Matt Voice, 40, experienced headaches and dizziness for seven years from the age of 32. In April 2020, he began collapsing unexpectedly and “black orbs” tarnished his vision. As his eyesight got worse, he sought an appointment with an optician. The optician found warning signs in the back of his eye, which can be caused by a tumor. He was diagnosed with an astrocytoma, a type of brain cancer called a glioma, and underwent surgery to remove 70% of the tumor on the right side.
