Researchers found a 72% increase in new Type 1 diabetes cases in those under 18 who contracted COVID-19. About 187,000 children and adolescents younger than 20 live with T1D nationally, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Researchers at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine published the findings in the journal JAMA Network Open.
