Extra-terrestrial water found for first time in meteorite that landed in UK

Meteorite found in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, is first to contain extra-terrestrial water in UK. It is believed to hold clues about where the water in the Earth’s oceans came from. Analysis suggests that the meteorite derived from an asteroid somewhere near Jupiter. The meteorite is the first known carbonaceous chondrite to have been found in the UK, and the first to be recovered across the country in 30 years. There are approximately 65,000 known meteorites on Earth.
