Fed’s Evans says he’s getting a little nervous about going too far, too fast with rate hikes

Chicago Federal Reserve President Charles Evans says he’s feeling apprehensive about the Fed raising interest rates too quickly in its quest to tackle runaway inflation. Evans said he remains “cautiously optimistic” that the U.S. economy can avoid a recession. The central bank raised benchmark interest rates by three-quarters of a percentage point earlier last week, the third consecutive increase of that size. Evans, 64, has consistently been one of the Fed’s policy doves in favor of lower rates and more accommodation.
