Grandfather charged in hot car death of Alabama toddler returned to truck 3 times: ‘I don’t understand it’

A 2-year-old boy died from being left inside a hot car in Alabama on Tuesday. Authorities announced charges against the toddler’s grandfather. William “Bill” Wiesman was supposed to drop his grandson, Ian, off at the Kids Campus daycare in Oneonta, but instead went straight to work. The toddler was Alabama’s first pediatric vehicular vehicular heatstroke death of 2022 and the third to occur on Tuesday, bringing the overall death toll in the U.S. to 28.
