United Launch Alliance’s Delta IV Heavy rocket made its last West Coast launch on Saturday, carrying out a mission for the National Reconnaissance Office. It is the most powerful version of the Delta IV, one of two rockets developed under the US Air Force’s Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) program. Delta IV is now being phased out as a new generation of launchers prepare to take their place.
