Ian Tobasco has been working on wrinkling patterns for years. His theory is based on the shape of a thin elastic film that settles on a flat surface. He found that Gaussian curvature is important to wrinkling patterns. In 2018, he’ll be working with Joey Paulsen, a physicist at Syracuse University, to develop a new wrinkle-like theory. He says it could be used to help design new mechanical behaviors in the real world of wrinkles and wrinkles.Read Long Article
