Three in five Americans say the US is in a recession, according to the latest Economist/YouGov poll. So how come it’s not official? Soaring inflation – the highest rate since the 1980s – has soured the mood for many. But this may just be a recession in mood only, as the official governing body in charge of declaring remains quiet on the issue.
