See the First Eerie NASA Images of DART’s Asteroid Crash Site

NASA’s DART spacecraft crashed into a large asteroid on Monday. The mission was to see if the spacecraft nudges the space rock ever so slightly. A small satellite captured the crash’s aftermath on Tuesday. The first images show streams of flowing debris surrounding the asteroid’s surface. It will take a couple of months before scientists unveil some answers on whether DART worked, but along the way, we can probably look forward to an exciting influx of observations being made worldwide. “Now the science can start,” says lead investigator of DART and planetary scientist.
