Two Lystrosaurus fossils have been found in the Karoo Basin in South Africa. The animals were four-legged herbivore with a beaked snout and two pointy tusk-like teeth. The skin almost matched what paleontologists predicted: the animal didn’t have hair, as evidenced by the lack of hair follicles, but it wasn’t scaly, either.
