Typhoon causes newbuild FPSO in China to drift away from shipyard

FPSO is being built for the BP-led Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project in Mauritania and Senegal. Typhoon Muifa has caused the floating production, storage and offloading vessel to drift about 200 metres off the quayside at a shipyard in Qidong, China. The mooring lines of the FPSO became compromised during the typhoon, resulting in the vessel drifting 200 metres of the quayside. Work was under way to enable the vessel to return to the quayedide when work is under way.
