The U.S. Utilities Decarbonization Index quantifies and compares the status of decarbonization among the 30 largest investor-owned utilities in the United States. These 30 utilities collectively generated around 2.3 billion megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity (including purchased power) in 2020. They also served over 90 million customers, accounting for roughly 56% of all electric customers in the country.
